Not an emergency, medical, or life-safety service

IMOK is a family check-in tool. It is not a medical device, not a monitored alarm, and not a substitute for emergency services.

I need help notifies people in your Circle who watch you. It does not call 911, 112, or any emergency dispatcher. If you need police, fire, or medical help, call emergency services yourself.

We are not responsible for outcomes, missed detections, delayed or failed alerts, sensor errors, phone or network failure, or anyone’s decision to act or not act on a notification.

What the app does

People in a Circle can watch each other. You can tap I’m OK, send I need help, and (if you consent) share passive signals such as steps, movement, heart-rate samples from Health/watch, phone use, location snapshots, and experimental household-sound classifications.

Watchers can set checks (for example a daily I’m OK by a given time). If a check is not met, watchers may see overdue and receive a push notification. If you send I need help, every active watcher is notified immediately.

Sensors are probabilistic

Phone sensors and on-device audio classification cannot prove that a person is conscious, safe, or at home. A phone can move in a bag. Steps, movement, unlock, heart rate, Wi‑Fi, GPS, TV/radio, and toilet-flush detection can false-positive and false-negative. Experimental household sounds are especially unreliable. We do not guarantee detection.

iOS cannot match Android for call, unlock, or all-day microphone features. Overnight flush/TV detection on iOS will often be missed.

Location and context

If you allow location, we send GPS (or last-known GPS) with I’m OK, I need help, and other signals to people who actively watch you. We also send battery, charging, network type, and clock. Your home Wi‑Fi name (SSID) stays on your phone and is not uploaded. Location is not used for advertising or public maps.

Audio

Raw microphone audio never leaves the device. Classification (YAMNet) runs on the phone. Only a label, confidence, and time may be uploaded. Household sounds require a separate consent.

Accounts and data

You sign in with Google (all platforms) or Sign in with Apple (iOS). We store your profile, Circle relationships, checks, device tokens, and signals (about 90 days). You can export or delete your account in Settings.

Pause

You can pause watching or being watched. I need help still notifies active watchers unless they have left the Circle.

Acceptable use

Do not use IMOK to stalk, harass, or monitor someone who has not approved the direction. Both people must approve each watch direction.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Liveathome and IMOK provide the service as is, without warranties. We are not liable for missed check-ins, failed push delivery, host outages, or harm arising from use or inability to use the app.
